Chris Cornell’s Widow Reacts To Taylor Momsen’s Tribute To Soundgarden

Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky Cornell commented on Taylor Momsen’s recent post on Instagram.

The singer shared a photo of herself wearing a shirt writing Soundgarden in the back and writing in hashtags ‘#chriscornellforever, #noonesingslikeyouanymore, and #sevenyears.’

Vicky left a comment on Momsen’s post, saying:

“Thank you for all your love and support… for always keeping his memory alive. Love ya.”

Taylor responded to her along with heart emojis:

“Always and forever.”

Soundgarden’s drummer also left a comment with a red heart emoji. Cornell’s bodyguard found him unconscious in his hotel bathroom after a show on May 17, 2017. Cornell was on the floor with something around his neck, and he had blood in his mouth. He died by hanging himself.

Momsen Spoke About The Day Cornell Died

The show that night included The Pretty Reckless as the opening act for Soundgarden. Momsen revealed in a 2021 chat that she said goodbye to Chris and hugged him before he went back to his hotel:

“It was traumatic. We were there that night in Detroit when Chris died. We played the show with Soundgarden; we were opening for them. I said goodbye To Chris, gave him a hug. We stayed in the parking lot hanging out with the rest of the band — with Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd — all night long, till bus call, and drove off to the next city. And we woke up the next morning to the news. And the weight on the bus was so unbelievably heavy. I woke up to just everyone in the front lounge crying and in utter shock.”

In another interview with NME in 2022, Taylor reflected on their tour with Soundgarden and what Soundgarden meant to her:

“I couldn’t f*cking believe it. And I got to know them all really well on that tour; we formed a very meaningful friendship. Obviously, we all went through a lot of tragedy at the end of that tour, but that probably reinforced our bond even more. You always hear the phrase ‘don’t meet your idols,’ but it’s always been so amazing with them. They’re the coolest people, so down to earth, so genuine. They’re very dear friends of mine, and I feel very fortunate.”

Momse paid tribute to Cornell in many shows by singing his songs. She previously performed ‘Like A Stone,’ ‘Rusty Cage’ and ‘The Day I Tried To Live’ in different concerts.
