The new Deftones album is coming together and apparently, it’s almost ready.

In a new interview with Billboard, frontman Chino Moreno revealed the details. “So the plan is, obviously, to have a record sometime around that time [during the tour.] It’s getting very close to being ready, so yeah, we’re excited,” he said.

While there are no certain details about the release date or its name, guitarist Stephen Carpenter said in 2023 that they were planning to release it in the spring or summer of last year.

“In the last couple months, really two or three months, we… well maybe a little longer now, really,” he said. “February is when we started. We starting to work on new material for a new record.

The guitarist continued: “It’s going good. It’s a little slow at first, but it always is. Dragging our feet ain’t nothing new. But we’ve got the stuff up and going now, and yeah. We’re on a good little momentum at the moment and we hope to have it all done and out by next spring or summer. I mean, there’s no official date yet but that’s our goal.”

Carpenter also later described the upcoming album as a continuation of their 2020 album ‘Ohms’ and 2012’s ‘Koi No Yokan.’

The upcoming Deftones album will be their first without bassist Sergio Vega, who played on their last four records before leaving in 2021. While Fred Sablan has been performing with the band live, no official replacement has been announced.
