Santana frontman Carlos Santana collapsed during his show in Michigan on July 5, 2022. As Carlos Santana’s representatives reported on Facebook, the rocker passed out due to being ‘overtaken by heat exhaustion.’

Carlos Santana became a pioneer in combining Latin American jazz and rock and roll with his band, Santana. He greatly impacted the rock scene in the late ’60s and early ’70s by using blues melodies and Latin American and African rhythms in his music. Santana’s popularity reemerged in the late ’90s.

The band gained immediate success with the self-titled debut album in 1969. Although the first single, ‘Jingo’ from the album, did not meet the expectations, the second one, named ‘Evil Ways,’ gained a reputation for the group by reaching number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. Also, the entire album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and spent over two years on the chart.

In 1999, Santana earned vast commercial success again with the group’s eighteenth album, ‘Supernatural.’ They collaborated with notable names like Eric Clapton, Lauryn Hill, and Rob Thomas in this record. The album reached number one on the charts of various countries. ‘Smooth’ from the album became number one success and stayed on top of Billboard Hot 100 for weeks.

On October 15, 2021, Carlos Santana, whose success brought him many Grammy awards, released his twenty-six studio album, ‘Blessings and Miracles‘ with his band. He also took the stage with Rob Thomas and Wyclef Jean in New York’s Central Park. The band has been on tour to promote the most recent record.

Unfortunately, Santana’s health deteriorated suddenly during the show at the Pine Knob Music Theatre on July 5. His manager Michael Vrionis explained on Santana’s Facebook that the rocker passed out because of being overtaken by heat exhaustion and dehydration. The manager stated that Santana was immediately taken to the emergency department and feeling better.

The Facebook post reported:

“Rock Legend Carlos Santana was overtaken by heat exhaustion and dehydration during a concert Tuesday, July 5 evening in Michigan. The guitar great was taken from his show at Pine Knob Music Theatre, formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre, an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan. Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well. It was announced by Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis tonight.”

The bandmates and the fans were worried for Carlos Santana when he suddenly collapsed during the performance. Those who loved him conveyed their best wishes to the rocker on social media. Fortunately, Santana’s medical condition is under control, and nothing serious happened to the musician.
