Bruce Dickinson is putting the finishing touches on his new solo album at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California. Jeff Scott Soto shared recent revelations about this on Instagram.
Soto described his fortunate encounter with the Iron Maiden frontman at the studio. He witnessed Dickinson completing vocal work on his upcoming release.
“How lucky am I? I went to say hello to my dear friend Mistheria who I worked with on his Vivaldi Metal Project and of course is part of Bruce Dickinson’s solo endeavors these days,” Soto said. “Arrived at Dave Grohl’s studio right as Bruce was doing some final vocals to his new album. He finished and came out to chat/hang a little but then asked if I wanted to hear a few of the songs…umm, YEA!!”
Soto expressed high praise for what he heard during the studio visit.
“I must say besides the fact that he is still singing at the top of his game, the songs, performances, and the overall vibe I got from all was beyond impressive, I think this outing will be one of his strongest ever outside of the Maiden camp,” he continued.
The musician also mentioned getting an exclusive preview of a new Trooper beer variety.
“To add frosting on the cake, I got to try a prototype for a new Trooper beer, this one is a nice IPA which I’m normally not a fan of, but this was really good, it’s not out yet so I feel pretty lucky to have tried it before the rest of the world haha,” Soto added.
This upcoming album marks a significant milestone in Dickinson’s solo career. It follows his successful return to solo work after a lengthy hiatus.
AFM Records reported that the new solo album won’t arrive before 2027. This gives fans something to anticipate after the success of his previous release. The Iron Maiden frontman’s last solo effort, “The Mandrake Project,” was released in March 2024. It marked his return to solo recording after nearly two decades.
The recording approach for this new album represents a departure from modern production techniques. Louder Sound revealed that Dickinson planned to record the album live with the intention of keeping performances intact. He explained his old-school methodology for the project.
“We’re doing it old-school, live, in January. [We’ll be] going into the studio and recording everything on the floor,” Dickinson revealed in earlier interviews about his recording plans.
The timing of Soto’s studio visit aligns with Arrow Lords of Metal reports. These reports indicated that Dickinson was scheduled to record his new solo album in early 2026. The fact that he was completing final vocals suggests the project is nearing completion. This is consistent with the planned 2027 release timeline.
