Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson recently shared details about an unexpected preview of his upcoming solo album. He revealed how bandmate Steve Harris accidentally overheard the new material, as reported by Louder Sound.

The incident occurred when Dickinson was playing demos to his management team. He was unaware that Harris was in an adjacent room.

“I was playing the demos [of my upcoming new solo album] to the team, the management, because I’ve got it on a little tablet,” Dickinson said. “So I said, ‘You want to hear some new stuff?’ I didn’t realise Steve was having his physio in the room next door.”

Harris’s reaction to the accidentally overheard material was overwhelmingly positive.

“And he came out and he went, ‘Is that your new stuff?’ I went, ‘Yeah,'” Dickinson continued. “He goes, ‘That’s the best stuff you’ve ever done. That’s the best stuff I’ve ever heard from you!’ I went, ‘Well, thank you very much, boss!'”

The endorsement from his longtime Iron Maiden bandmate appears to have been a pleasant surprise for the vocalist regarding his upcoming solo work.

This accidental preview comes as Dickinson prepares for what will be his next major solo venture. It builds on a career that has spanned both his legendary work with Iron Maiden and his individual artistic pursuits.

Hello Rayo reported that the new album is scheduled for release in 2027. Recording is set to begin in January 2026. The vocalist plans to work alongside the same band that toured with him in Europe recently. They will support the album during the 2027 tour.

Dickinson has provided insight into the musical direction of the forthcoming material. Blabbermouth noted that he described the new songs as including “bone-crushingly heavy” tracks as well as acoustic moments that “are just like tugging at the heartstrings.”

“There’s some bone-crushingly heavy stuff on there, and there’s some acoustic stuff that are just like tugging at the heartstrings,” Dickinson explained. He emphasized the diversity and emotional depth of the new tracks.

The upcoming release will mark another chapter in Dickinson’s solo career. This has allowed him to explore musical territories beyond Iron Maiden’s signature sound. Arrow Lords of Metal indicated that this project represents his continued commitment to both his individual artistry and his collaborative work with Iron Maiden.
