Brian May Clarifies The Current Status Of New Queen Record With Adam Lambert

In a recent exclusive interview with Guitar Player, Queen lead guitarist Brian May talked about the upcoming projects of Queen + Adam Lambert and revealed whether the new songs or the albums of the band will be released soon.

As you may remember, Queen + Adam Lambert released their second live album entitled ‘Live Around the World’ on October 2, 2020. The album included live performances of Queen’s iconic songs ‘Don’t Stop Me Now,’ ‘The Show Must Go On,’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and many more from different concerts of Queen + Adam Lambert. The album received very positive reviews from fans and music critics.

Brian May focused on his solo career and started to work on his latest project entitled ‘Brian May Gold Series.’ In his new project, May began releasing the reissues of his classic records starting with ‘Back to the Light.’ The pre-order is available now even though the track will be released on August 6, 2021. He stated that the next song is ready to be released too.

During a recent interview, Brian May revealed that he went into the studio with Roger Taylor and Adam Lambert to work on some new Queen songs. However, May stated that the songs weren’t ready to be released because they couldn’t hit the right button. He mentioned that it was hard to adapt to the changes in the music industry to produce new tracks especially under the current circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic. May implied that there might be new Queen music released in the future but it might take more time than he thought.

Clarifying the situation May said:

“I always say, ‘I don’t know.’ It would have to be a very spontaneous moment. Actually, Adam, Roger, and I have been in the studio trying things out, just because things came up. But up to this point, we haven’t felt that anything we’ve done has hit the button in the right way.

So it’s not like we’re close to the idea, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet. And to be honest, life has now taken a turn in which it’s very difficult to explore an avenue like that. Things may change, but I don’t think they’re going to change very fast.”

According to Brian May’s statement, the release date of Queen + Adam Lambert’s new tracks is currently unknown even though they have been composing and recording when they have found inspiration. The fans might have to wait for a while until they listen to the new songs from the band.
