John Densmore responded to ‘shut up and drum’ comments on Instagram.
“Dear fans, in the past, when I posted something political, most of you knew the Doors were a rather ‘liberal’ thinking group,” the drummer wrote in his post. “A few of you said, ‘John, shut up and drum.'”
He continued, “Next Tuesday is so important for the future of OUR country, I feel the need to speak out. I guess I’m mostly speaking to those who think I should ‘shut up.'”
“Last night, Trump said that Republican Liz Cheney should be put before a firing squad for not supporting him. If he wins, it looks like yours truly will be ‘taken out’ as well. On the other hand, Kamala Harris has implied that she will put a Republican in her cabinet,” Densmore noted.
He lastly said, “That is America – inclusive. I urge you to consider voting for the continuation of the American Dream – the dream of many different folks living together & working out their differences peacefully. Sincerely, John Densmore.”
Testament’s Alex Skolnick also supported Densmore by sharing his statement on his Instagram story and liking the post. On November 5, Americans will vote for their next president. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are competing against each other.
A lot of names in the music scene have been voicing their opinions on the elections nowadays. “I’m Amy Lee, and I will proudly be voting for Kamala Harris for president of the United States,” Evanescence’s Amy Lee recently said in a video message on Instagram. “There’s so much at stake this year, from reproductive rights to responsible gun legislation we desperately need, to democracy itself.”
The singer added, “Our right to have a voice in this place. We need an advocate, someone who will listen to us and represent us with honor and integrity. I believe Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will help take our country forward.”
“Vote. Voting is a privilege we can’t take for granted. Use your voice. Use it for something good,” Lee lastly noted in her message.
While Sebastian Bach also previously criticized Trump and supported Harris, artists like Kid Rock and Kanye West expressed their endorsement of Trump.
