In a new conversation with Australia’s Everblack podcast, Brian ‘Head’ Welch hinted at an upcoming Korn album, but the release date is uncertain.

“Yeah, we got a lot of it [written]. We’re still working,” the guitarist said of the progress of writing songs for the new record after the band’s 2022 album ‘Requiem.’

He added, “Dude, it’s a trip 30 years later, man, to try to keep doing it. And we’re very happy with what we got, but it’s just gonna take a while. And I don’t know how long — maybe next summer, maybe next year, the next winter, I don’t know, but it’s not gonna be soon.”

This isn’t the first time Welch has discussed Korn’s plans for new music. “We are passionately and intensely working on new music,” the musician told WSOU 89.5 FM earlier this year. “We’re a little bit behind.”

Brian continued, “I love the songs that we’ve done, but tone-wise I feel like we can beat it. So we’re spending a lot more time on this new music, we’re spending a lot more money and we don’t have any record label involved, so it’s all coming from us.”

“We really want to dissect our sound and remember where we came from and how we did it back then. I think it’s the best and heaviest Korn stuff in years. And I think it’s gonna be raw and just kind of more basic, as far as sound and recording and everything. I don’t wanna give it all away, but we’re just very, very pleased with where we’re at right now,” Welch then noted.

It’s unclear if Korn bassist Fieldy will be part of the new album. He has been replaced by Ra Díaz, who plays bass for BillyBio and was in Suicidal Tendencies. Korn will also play some festivals and a special show with System of a Down in New Jersey in 2025.
