Bret Michaels recently broke his silence following accusations from Poison drummer Rikki Rockett about demanding excessive money for a potential 2026 tour. He shared his response on Instagram.

The statement focused on his passion for music and touring, without directly addressing the financial dispute allegations.

“On this Two for Tuesday, I honor 2 great musicians, stars and friends – Luke Bryan and Trace Adkins who I’ve had the pleasure of joining on stage and TV shows (Luke – see you February 27 Extra Innings Fest in Arizona) – as we sit discussing life, music and the pursuit of awesomeness,” Michaels said.

The frontman continued with his philosophy on music and performance.

“Everybody knows I give a thousand percent and always advise to love all, rock all, laugh hard and rock hard,” he continued. “I’ve never been more excited about being on the road. I always advise people to enjoy music as a soundtrack to everyday life. Go see who you love, do it as often as you can and rock the world. Stand strong, rock on and remain Unbroken.”

Rockett claimed in a recent interview that Michaels wanted “the lion’s share of the money” for a tour deal, demanding “$6 to every one of our dollars.” This ultimately caused the band to walk away from what Rockett described as “a great offer.” This statement came after these accusations.

The controversy centers around what would have been Poison’s 40th anniversary tour. The tour would have marked four decades since the band’s formation in 1983 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

Fox News reported that the planned celebration tour was canceled after Michaels allegedly demanded 600% more money than his bandmates. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions within the classic rock band that achieved massive success in the late 1980s with their debut album Look What the Cat Dragged In. The album launched hits like “Talk Dirty to Me,” “I Won’t Forget You,” “I Want Action,” and “Cry Tough.”

Blabbermouth noted that Rockett explained the financial breakdown that led to the tour’s cancellation. He pointed out that “Bret Michaels [solo] band tours very differently from the way POISON tours.” The drummer’s comments suggest fundamental differences in how the frontman approaches touring compared to the full band setup.

The current lineup includes Michaels as lead singer and rhythm guitarist, C.C. DeVille on lead guitar, Rockett on drums, and Bobby Dall on bass. Ultimate Classic Rock indicated that the 40th anniversary tour was expected to be a major celebration for fans. Instead, it became one of the most controversial stories in the band’s recent history.

The financial dispute represents a significant setback for Poison fans who were anticipating the milestone tour. It leaves questions about the band’s future touring plans and whether the members can resolve their differences for future performances.
