In a new interview with Guitar World, former Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson shared some news about his possible return to the band.
Delson explained the band’s decision to reunite. Apparently, the band’s goal wasn’t going back to what they were doing. “For everyone, it wasn’t like, ‘Let’s go back to what we were doing.’ It was like, ‘Let’s take what we’ve learned in the time off to approach our roles with greater self-awareness and insight,'” he explained. “I really thrive in the studio. I love making new things. That’s what energizes me personality-wise.”
“That’s why I decided to focus my energy on that area and have Alex as my world-traveler doppelganger. I think he brings a lot to the show,” he added.
When asked if he would ever be back on stage with Linkin Park, he didn’t say no right away. “You never know. I don’t have a crystal ball, I can’t definitely say.”
Delson decided to leave the band this year after it was announced that Linkin Park was making a comeback. “I’ve always felt deeply connected to and proud of our live performances. Over the years I’ve realized I thrive most when I’m actively working with my bandmates behind the scenes––in the studio, collaborating on our new music, and helping build our live show,” he wrote in a part of his lengthy statement about leaving the band.
However, the guitarist doesn’t seem to be bothered that he needed to leave. “I remember being at the Forum and just watching it,” he said earlier, mentioning the band’s September 11 show in Inglewood, California. “We put a lot of love into the creative of the show. Even though I’m not onstage, I’m still intimately involved. I helped design the set list and the whole flow of the show, and every day we talk about the shows. It’s a huge labor of love.”
He also pointed out that he and the new guitarist Alex Feder were friends and that he was doing a good job.
