Bob Daisley has heard Ozzy Osbourne’s words about his and the late Randy Rhoads’ work and denied the claims.

Appearing in a new exclusive interview with Artists On Record Starring ADIKA Live!, the rocker said regarding Ozzy’s claims on the quality of the demos being too bad:

“Well, I don’t know if Ozzy’s actually heard it. There are snippets of what I have on my website… And the quality is not bad at all. And it’s not a little cassette player. It was done on my boombox that I used to record all our rehearsals on. I used to record the rehearsals really just for us to have a reference of what we were doing as we were writing because the famous last words, ‘Oh, we’ll remember that tomorrow,’ and I’d never, ever wanted to take that chance.”

He also clarified the misunderstanding about having recorded them on a ‘little cassette machine’:

“So, I used to record everything. That was the only reason I recorded everything, was so I’d have a reference the next day and we wouldn’t forget anything. But it’s pretty good quality, actually, for [having been] recorded on a cassette player — a big cassette player, one of those boomboxes; in those days, they were called ghetto blasters. People don’t call them that anymore.”

After making his mark on the quality of the sound, the bassist made it clear that they still could be listened on his website. He shared the details about the demos:

“But if anybody wants to hear the quality for themselves, they can judge. It’s on my website. I put snippets there. I put a snippet for the anniversary of Randy’s death. I put a snippet there for when Lee [Kerslake] passed away. There’s, I think, three or four snippets of about 30 or 40 seconds long. You can play 40 seconds of something legally without having to get permission.”

Ozzy’s Claims About the Snippets

The claims first appeared on the latest episode of the The Osbournes Podcast. The claim suggests that the quality of the Blizzard Of Ozz rehearsal tapes was ‘too dreadful’ to be released, thus staying unreleased.

Reportedly, Daisley’s ‘Holy Grail’ demos contain eight hours of recording sessions with Randy Rhoads.

During Ozzy and Jack Osbourne’s discussion about the release of the demos should be up to Rhoads’ family, Sharon claimed that they were recorded on a ‘little cassette machine,’ as opposed to Daisley’s clarification.

Daisley Sued the Osbournes for Unpaid Royalties

Daisley filed a lawsuit against the musician and his company, Blizzard Music Limited, for unpaid royalties. The guitarist claimed Osbourne withheld almost $2 million in unpaid royalties from the hit ‘Crazy Train.’

Both parties, and the late Rhoads, were included as the writers of the song but were not paid.

Daisley collaborated with Osbourne on Blizzard of Ozz, the debut solo album of the Black Sabbath frontman in 1980. He also contributed to 1981’s Diary of a Madman but was dismissed from the project prior to its release. Although Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake pursued legal action in 1986 to secure royalties and recognition for their contributions to Diary of a Madman, allegations of unpaid performance royalties made in 2002 were ultimately dismissed. Osbourne eventually refuted the charges.

So it’s evident that the two parties still could not make themselves clear to each other.
