Carcass have announced that they are postponing their upcoming Australian tour, along with their China and India dates. The postponement is due to a deeply personal family situation affecting drummer Dan Wilding. The band shared the news in a statement posted on Instagram.
The announcement explains the reasoning behind the decision and addresses what fans can expect moving forward, including the status of existing tickets and one festival appearance that will still proceed as planned.
“We’re incredibly sorry to announce that we have decided to reschedule our upcoming ‘Putrefying Down Under’ Australia / NZ tour along with our China and India dates,” the band said. “Our drummer Dan is facing a deeply upsetting family situation, and his priority right now is being with his family. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won’t be sharing further details, but we hope our fans will understand that this is a situation where family has to come first and he simply cannot be so far away from home for so long.”
The statement continued, emphasizing that the decision was not taken lightly. The band added that they are already working toward new dates.
“We know how much people have been looking forward to these shows, and postponing them is not a decision we have taken lightly,” they said. “We are working on rescheduled dates and will share further information as soon as we can.”
Carcass also addressed fans in India specifically, confirming that one festival performance will still go ahead despite the broader postponement.
“For our fans in India, Bangalore Open Air will still go ahead as scheduled, and we sincerely encourage everyone to attend the festival, support the other bands performing and be part of what will still be an incredible day,” the band said. “Thank you for your patience, understanding and, most importantly, your kindness and support at what is a very difficult time for our band and family.”
The band confirmed that ticket holders will not need to take any action for now.
“All existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates, further information to follow,” they said. “Thank you for understanding.”
The postponement disrupts what had been shaping up as a substantial run through the region. The scope of the impact becomes clearer when looking at just how much groundwork had already been laid for the tour.
The “Putrefying Down Under” trek was set to kick off on September 22, 2026 in Perth and wrap up on October 2 in Auckland. Stops were planned in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville along the way. Carcass were touring alongside Brujeria for most dates. Local support acts had already been confirmed city by city, including Kimura in Perth, Anggrath in Adelaide, Nembutolik in Melbourne, Hormagaunt in Sydney, Cryptivore in Brisbane, and Psycroptic and Necrophage in Townsville, with Just One Fix and Soul Void rounding out the bill in Auckland.
Fans hoping for a quick turnaround will have to be patient. The rescheduled Australia and New Zealand dates have been pushed to September 2027, a full year later than originally planned. The band has stressed that all existing tickets will carry over.
Wilding’s absence from the road does not appear tied to any long-term change in his standing with Carcass. He has remained active in the studio in recent months and recently contributed drums to Kai Hansen’s solo album “Born With a Hammer,” a project that also features Heaven Shall Burn guitarist Alexander Dietz and Induction’s Tim Hansen, alongside producer Eike Freese on guitar.
The band’s decision to still push fans toward Bangalore Open Air, rather than pulling out of the region entirely, underscores the balancing act Carcass are trying to strike between prioritizing Wilding’s family situation and honoring commitments where possible. It also leaves the door open for the band to make a partial appearance in Asia even as the larger Australia, New Zealand, China and India dates are shelved for now.
