Alexis Roderick Joel, Billy Joel’s wife, has addressed concerns about the musician’s health condition through a statement on Instagram.

She released the statement following public concern over recent tour cancelations. Her message expressed gratitude for the medical care and provided an update on Billy Joel’s condition.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love and support. We are so grateful for the wonderful care and swift diagnosis we received,” Alexis stated. “Bill is beloved by so many, and to us, he is a father and husband who is at the center of our world. We are hopeful for his recovery. We look forward to seeing you all in the future.”

The statement emerged amid significant developments regarding the legendary musician’s health.

ABC News revealed that Joel, 76, received a diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). The rare brain disorder has led to the cancellation of all his scheduled concerts through early 2026.

The Independent detailed the nature of his condition. Excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain’s ventricles. This buildup creates increased pressure that compresses brain tissue. His recent performances have worsened the condition. The symptoms now affect his hearing, vision, and balance.

Billy Joel’s official website listed several canceled high-profile shows. These include the April 26 performance with Sting in Milwaukee. Two major concerts with Rod Stewart in July have also been affected. These shows were scheduled for Pittsburgh and Yankees Stadium in the Bronx.

His medical team has prescribed specific physical therapy. They have also mandated a complete pause on performances during recovery. Ticket holders will automatically receive refunds for all canceled shows. No action is required from ticket holders for the refund process.
