Belinda Carlisle Admits Struggling To Hide Collab With Debbie Harry And Dolly Parton

Ladies and gentlemen, the supreme girl band we didn’t know we needed is here to make their mark in the rock scene. The most iconic lineup of female singers has joined forces to record Diane Warren’s track ‘Gonna Be You’ for the new road trip comedy movie ‘80 for Brady.’ Even for Belinda Carlisle, who was a part of the project, the level of excitement was too high. She even shared her struggle to keep the project, including Debbie Harry and Dolly Parton, a secret on her official Instagram account.

“What an honor to sing with Dolly Parton, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, and Debbie Harry!” the Go-Go’s singer Carlisle wrote. “This secret has been hard to keep.” The idea was born when the songwriter Diane Warren’s approached the all-star lineup to bring together strong women to sing about female friendship.

“When I wrote ‘Gonna Be You’ for ’80 For Brady’, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women’s deep friendship,” Warren told Contact Music about her intentions behind the song for the upcoming movie. She then noted, “Since 80 was in the title, I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!”

Diane added, “Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me! I’m honored to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, and Debbie Harry on this song! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!”

The most anticipated collaboration between the iconic singers will be released on January 20. Not only having the Go-Go’s Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, and Gloria Estefan but also having Blondie’s Debbie Harry alongside the new rocker in town, Dolly Parton, in the project, it truly can’t get better than that!
