In a Classic Rock interview that took place in April 2024 before Heart announced that their tour would be delayed for Ann Wilson’s chemotherapy recovery, the singer said Heart isn’t just her and Nancy’s band.

“No. I have to take issue with the fact it’s me and Nancy’s band at all,” Wilson replied when asked if Heart has always been mainly run by her and Nancy. “The people that are in Heart are always treated on an equal footing. We don’t hire back-up musicians and throw them some cash.”

The group postponed their remaining 2024 shows and canceled their European tour in late May because Wilson needed a routine medical procedure with a six-week recovery. They posted this update on social media, “We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe are canceled.”

Their post continued, “In late May, Ann Wilson will undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks. Heart deeply regrets this unfortunate circumstance and hopes to return to Europe soon. Refunds will be available at point of purchase as applicable.”

“I’m okay! Please don’t worry,” the vocalist said in a separate statement. “I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It’s certainly an inconvenience for me. Love & respect always, Ann.”

Later in July, Heart postponed the rest of their 2024 North American tour because Wilson was getting cancer treatment. “Dear friends, I underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous, ” Ann revealed. “The operation was successful and I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it. And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”

She added, “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted and we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing. Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.”

The 2024 shows had been planned for Ann and Nancy to reunite after being apart from 2016 to 2019 because of a family argument. During that period, they toured on their own.
