Wolfgang Van Halen Says He Could Play A Mick Jagger And David Bowie Song To Annoy Fans

Wolf Van Halen recently reacted to a Twitter user’s comment about him not playing Van Halen songs anymore. In his answer, Wolfgang stated that he would not cover his father’s band’s songs just because people are asking him to do so.

Wolfgang Van Halen became the bassist of his father Eddie Van Halen’s band in 2006 and appeared with them on stage until 2020. Then he left Van Halen after his father’s death and focused on creating his solo project Mammoth WVH. The musician was harshly criticized for playing in his father’s band for years and becoming ‘his tail.’

After he left Van Halen to pursue his solo work, he started receiving criticism and hate because he didn’t want to do any Van Halen covers. This long-time argument has made the musician snap several times and tell his fans to stop commenting on what he should do, which is precisely what happened once again recently.

In one of his comments, Wolf said that he has no wish to do a Van Halen cover, and he demonstrated his unwillingness with an example. The young musician stressed that even if he were to do a ‘Dancing In The Street’ cover, he wouldn’t sing the version Van Halen released in 1982 with ‘Diver Down.’

Van Halen’s cover of the track was highly successful and reached No. 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Eddie Van Halen had decided to add synthesizers to create an original cover of the song, which was highly appreciated by fans. ‘Dancing In The Street’ was later covered by Mick Jagger and David Bowie and it seems like Van Halen fans have pissed off Wolf so much that if he were to sing it, he would do Jagger and Bowie’s instead of Van Halen’s version.

Here is what he stated first:

“You all are never gonna fucking stop, are you?”

His reaction to the criticism follows:

“*Plays in a band with Dad* ‘That spoiled brat is just riding his daddy’s coattails’ *Plays in own band without covering Van Halen* ‘Yo, why isn’t he riding his daddy’s coattails?'”

Wolf finished his rant by saying:

“I’m gonna cover the Bowie/Jagger version of ‘Dancing In The Street’ just to piss you all off.”
