Joe Perry recently addressed questions about Aerosmith’s future, speaking to Guitar World about the band’s collaboration with Yungblud and what lies ahead.

The guitarist discussed the band’s recent work on the song “One More Time” with the young artist. He explained how the unexpected partnership came together and evolved into a full production effort.

“It was something we really hadn’t planned on,” Perry said. “Then after it was done we had promotion, photoshoots and rehearsals morning to night. The songs are inspired by him working with us, and us being inspired by working with him. There’s a lot of great guitar players and bands out there, but Yungblud really has the stuff, so we thought we’d throw our lot in.”

When asked about the possibility of more material from Aerosmith, Perry emphasized that retirement is not on the horizon for the legendary rock band.

“I can’t really say. If this is the last thing that we do, it’s great,” Perry said. “But I’m not retired yet. Steven doesn’t think he’s retired. Who knows? We’ve still got some juice left!”

Perry’s comments come at a significant moment in Aerosmith’s history. While the band has stepped back from the road, their studio work remains active and vibrant. This demonstrates that the end of touring does not signal the end of their creative journey.

Aerosmith retired from touring in 2024 following Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injury, The News reported. The injury forced the abandonment of their farewell tour in 2023. Despite this significant setback, the band has continued to pursue studio collaborations and new music projects.

The Yungblud collaboration represents more than just a one-off project. Aerosmith recently released a five-track EP called One More Time with Yungblud, The News noted. The band also worked with country singer Lainey Wilson on the track Wild Woman. These projects showcase Aerosmith’s willingness to explore new musical partnerships and genres.

Joe Perry’s assertion that the band still has “juice left” reflects a broader reality about Aerosmith’s current status. In July 2025, Perry stated that Aerosmith had discussed getting together for a proper send-off after their farewell tour was abandoned, as The News documented. This suggests that while touring may be off the table, live performances and future projects remain possibilities.

The comments suggest that despite decades in the industry and recent health challenges, Aerosmith remains committed to creating music. The band continues to explore new creative directions with emerging and established artists alike.
