Adam Lambert Says He’s In Service Of Brian May

Adam Lambert, who has been touring with Queen since 2014, recently joined Jackie Brambles on her Greatest Hits Radio show and said that he treated his tenure in the band as a collaboration. So, he is in service of Brian May and Roger Taylor to help them perform their songs in the best way.

It has been almost ten years since Lambert started touring with Queen under the name Queen + Adam Lambert. Filling in the shoes of an icon like Freddie Mercury has undoubtedly been a challenging task for the singer. Lambert had talked about his position in the band in his previous interviews by clarifying that he didn’t try to replace Mercury. He has been trying to interpret the Queen songs in his own way.

During a new chat, when asked whether he now felt like a member of the band, Lambert responded by saying that he saw it as a collaboration where he was a guest trying to perform at his best. He is grateful to the remaining Queen members for writing such incredible songs, so he feels like he has this responsibility to deliver them to the fans in the perfect way.

The vocalist also said that he was in service of Brian May and Roger Taylor while on stage to perform their own pieces live. Lambert really respects Queen fans who want to hear the band’s songs, so he tries to give his hundred percent during his shows with the act. He again highlighted that his aim was not to replace Freddie, as he was one of a kind. Instead, they honor his memory with the audience.

Lambert’s comments on his position in the band:

“I’ve always kind of looked at it as it’s a collaboration. The songs were written by the band and originated by the band. Everyone knows the songs because of their records, so I look at it as I am a guest. I get to go on stage and sing these incredible songs. I get to be of service to Brian and Rogers so that they can perform their songs live, which they have every right and freedom to do.

The fans of Queen want to hear these songs played, so they need us there. So, I’ve always looked at it that way and tried to approach it with that kind of respect. Freddie was one of a kind; there’s no replacing him, but what we try to do when we’re on stage is really celebrate him and remember him fondly with the audience.”

As Brian May revealed several months ago, Queen + Adam Lambert intends to tour again in 2023. There has not been an announcement from the band about the dates yet, but the fans can expect some good in the coming months.
