Adam Lambert opened up about kissing a man on TV in a recent Instagram post.

The singer shared a video with the caption, “‘You’re so funny.’ Thanks, I kissed a man on live TV in 2009 and almost got sued.” He also captioned the post, saying, “And I’d do it again!”

Lambert previously talked about his 2009 American Music Awards performance, where ABC reacted negatively after he kissed a musician onstage. He shared his thoughts while accepting an award at the 2023 Creative Coalition Spotlight Initiative Gala.

He noted, “I did the kind of performance I had seen since I was a teenager. I was kind of sexy and had dancers on stage, and I did a couple of suggestive moves with a couple of dancers, and an impromptu kiss with my bass player. I was feeling it.”

Lambert also said ABC, which aired the awards show, didn’t have a positive reaction to his onstage kiss. The rocker recalled, “I got off stage and I got in trouble. The network was like, ‘How dare you?’ They banned me for a while. They threatened me with a lawsuit. It was like, ‘Oh, okay, that’s where we’re at.'”

“I’d been in a bubble in LA amongst artists, weirdos, and I didn’t realize that that kind of thing would ruffle feathers the way it did,” Lambert also explained.

“People literally felt betrayed. I was like, ‘What?’ It was weird. Part of me got a kick out of it because I like to kind of push buttons a bit. I mean, I knew that it’s pop, right? I come from the Madonna generation, pushing people’s buttons is the part of the game,” Lambert also said of the kiss to No Gorge last year.

At the 2009 American Music Awards, Lambert performed his first single, ‘For Your Entertainment,’ and kissed his male keyboard player. This was his first performance after finishing second on ‘American Idol.’
