Liam Gallagher Thinks U2 Should Have Been Naughtier

Oasis’ Liam Gallagher recently joined Loudwire Nights radio show for an interview during which he claimed that U2 should’ve been naughtier to be considered a rock band.
Nearly all well-known rock bands left a legacy behind regarding their hedonistic lifestyles that often included heavy use of substances, affairs with many partners, or their rebellious stance against the establishment. Though current rockers don’t necessarily relate to this sort of living, the idea of being a rock and roll icon easily comes with having a wild and naughty persona, according to countless people.
However, this isn’t the case with U2 since they rarely came up with a controversial issue in the public sphere or became known for their ‘sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll’ lifestyle. Instead, they have focused on their music and tried to address issues regarding diseases, poverty, or social injustice with their music. While many appreciate their relatively normal lifestyle despite being rock stars, it appears that another rocker doesn’t feel that way.
Recently, Liam Gallagher stated in response to a fan’s tweet that Dave Grohl is correct for describing him as one of the last remaining rock stars because the rest of them are useless. Gallagher then elaborated on his remark on Loudwire Nights radio show appearance. The musician said that not all rock stars are useless, but most of them are because they live a boring life, and rock and roll deserve more than just making rock music. The musician then added that a rock star has to live an exciting life. Moreover, he mentioned U2 as an example and stated he’s never seen them do anything ‘rock and roll.’
As reported by Loudwire, Liam Gallagher told Loudwire Nights’ Toni Gonzalez about the rock stars the following:
“I mean, not all of them are useless, but the majority of them are. The ones that think they’re rock stars are not; they just live a very boring f*cking life, and I think rock ‘n’ roll deserves a little bit more than just making music, you know what I mean?
You gotta get out there and get yourself. You just gotta live an exciting life. It’s like U2; they pass themselves as a rock ‘n’ roll band, but what the? Come on, man, I’ve never seen f*cking Bono. I mean, I’ve never seen any of them do anything remotely rock ‘n’ roll.“
It’s clear that Liam Gallagher thinks a rock star should be naughty and live an exciting life to be a true rock icon. Furthermore, the musician also believes just making rock music doesn’t make a band rock and roll since it requires living a life according to its spirit.
