Ace Frehley Explains If He’ll Form A Band With Ex-KISS Members

In a new exclusive interview with Ultimate Guitar, Ace Frehley discussed the possibility of creating a band with former KISS members, excluding Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

When asked if he would consider touring with two other ex-KISS guitarists, Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kulick, the musician replied:

“I don’t particularly see that happening in the future. I kind of like to run my own show and have my own band. Because think about it – how many solo albums do I have out? And I also do some KISS favorites when I perform. So, it would be really tough to work with other guitar players who also have songs that they’ve written. There wouldn’t be enough time – it would be a three-hour show.”

Recalling The First Meeting And Performance With Vinnie And Bruce

In his previous statement, the guitarist explained that at Creatures Fest 2022, he played with Vinnie and Bruce for the first time ever, despite never having met Vinnie before due to their paths not crossing. They got along well, enjoyed Vinnie’s guitar playing, and had a fun time jamming together. Frehley then continued, referring to how his career is getting better and Gene and Paul’s are slowing down:

“It’s really funny – I’m friends with all the guys in KISS. Even Eric Singer is a dear friend of mine. And now I’m friends with Vinnie. I never had a problem with any of these people. But for some reason, Paul had a problem with a lot of them. And Gene. But I’d rather not even talk about those guys since they’re retired, and their career is winding down while mine is taking off. So, that’s kind of nice.”

Addressing Former Bandmates And Musical Envy

Speaking to SiriusXM in November, Frehley again took a jab at his former bandmates by saying that Stanley was musically envious of him. He referred to his upcoming album and noted:

“I’ve been touring without KISS for years. I mean, KISS hasn’t put out an album in what, nine years; I’ve put out five or six. And [my upcoming] album [‘10,000 Volts’] I think is gonna really turn heads. I know Gene’s [Simmons] gonna really like it and tell the press he does like it. I have no idea what Paul Stanley’s gonna say. He usually holds back on any deep praise for me because he’s jealous of me.”

‘10,000 Volts’ is set for release in February 2024. Meanwhile, Ace has several rescheduled U.S. concerts planned for early 2024 to promote his new record.
