Zakk Wylde recently opened up about his final conversation with Ozzy Osbourne. He shared intimate details about their last exchange in an interview with Guitar World.

When asked about the last time he spoke with Ozzy, Wylde provided a heartfelt account of their final interaction.

The guitarist then described their final text exchange. It carried deep emotional weight.

“The last text I got from Oz was saying, ‘Zakky, sorry, it was like a madhouse back there. I didn’t see you,'” he continued. “He goes, ‘Thanks for everything.’ It was just us talking, saying, ‘I love you, buddy.’ That was it.”

This emotional exchange reflects the deep bond that developed between the two musicians over their decades-long professional and personal relationship.

Guitar World reported that Wylde emphasized their bond went well beyond music. He described Ozzy as “almost like an older brother” despite their 20-year age gap. The guitarist revealed that while they enjoyed their wild times together, Ozzy also served as a trusted advisor when needed.

“With our relationship, there was the fun drinking – but if I ever needed advice, I could talk to him,” Wylde explained in the same interview.

Far Out Magazine documented that Ozzy himself has spoken highly of their relationship. He called Wylde “one of the greatest friends I’ll ever have” and described him as “a family member to me.” The Prince of Darkness noted that Wylde had been his longest-serving guitarist and someone he could rely on instantly if needed.

The professional partnership between the two musicians spanned multiple decades and several albums. It cemented Wylde’s place as one of Ozzy’s most trusted collaborators and established a legacy that extends far beyond their musical achievements into genuine friendship and mutual respect.
