Born as Dominic Richard Harrison, Yungblud was the first child of his parents, Samantha and Justin Harrison. The future musician had a different childhood than most children since he was an opinionated and energetic kid who was often misunderstood. In a new interview with Daily Star, Yungblud reflected on his parents’ relationship and how it affected his future.
“My parents had this weird, beautifully dark relationship where I don’t know if I’ve ever seen two people love each other as much as they have,” said Yungblud, his parents’ love. However, they also had a dark side to their affair, as he recalled, “But I don’t think I’ve seen anybody hurt each other as much.”
The musician later detailed his parents’ relationship in the household. According to his statement, Samantha and Justin Harrison were abusive toward each other. “It was physically and mentally and emotionally abusive,” Yungblud recalled. Still, this environment inspired him to create his own world, which led to his music career. He added, “I’ve always wanted to build a world where I could exist to escape what was going on around me.”
Yungblud’s family lives away from the spotlight as there’s little to no information about his two sisters, Jemima and Isobel, his mother and father. As for what we know, Samantha Harrison is the owner and manager of Jaffa & Cakes and currently resides in Kirk Smeaton in Doncaster, England, with her two daughters and husband.
His father, Justin Harrison, was once a vintage guitar dealer and had a guitar shop named Doncaster’s Music Ground in Hall Gate for several years. However, there’s almost nothing about him on social media, and Yungblud doesn’t talk about his father during interviews, except for this recent conversation.
