Wolfgang Van Halen: ‘I’m Ripping Off Led Zeppelin Not Van Halen’

In a recent interview with Linearock, Wolfgang Van Halen opened up about his career and upcoming album, shedding light on the inspiration behind his music.

During the conversation, interviewer Barbara Caserta drew a comparison between Van Halen‘s first two studio albums and Mammoth WVH‘s debut and sophomore records, noting the similarity in their names. Curiosity piqued, she asked about the new album ‘Mammoth II’s’ content, wondering if it would be ‘hungrier’ than its predecessor.

In response, Wolfgang displayed a humorous approach. He jokingly corrected Caserta’s assumption about his inspiration, admitting to ‘ripping off Led Zeppelin,’ and proceeded to explain the sound that was adapted in the upcoming project.

His words read:

“Yeah. Well, one correction is that rather than following Van Halen, I’m ripping off Led Zeppelin. Second of all, I think, after touring for two years and just really getting to experience the live setting with the band, I think you can hear a lot on this new album of just stuff that was written with the live show in mind. Just progressive, exciting, hard rock songs.”

Fans have already caught a glimpse of what ‘Mammoth II’ has in store with the release of its lead single, ‘Another Celebration at the End of the World.’ There will be apparently more to see when the full album arrives on August 4.
