Wolfgang Van Halen has been on a successful career path with his band Mammoth WVH. Apparently, the time has come to expect a second album from the band. Speaking to Total Guitar, Wolfgang updated his fans on the progress and said he intended to use some of his late father, Eddie Van Halen’s guitars during the solo recordings of the upcoming album.
After Eddie’s tragic passing and Van Halen’s disbandment, Wolfgang decided to move on and continue making music. Although many VH fans expected him to follow in his father’s steps and continue the band, Wolf embarked on a new journey to find his own sound. Turning a deaf ear to criticisms, he eventually achieved success with his band Mammoth WVH.
In 2021, Wolfgang released his debut album ‘Mammoth WVH.’ After its release, the album received widespread praise from music critics and fans. Wolf wrote all the songs, played every instrument in the album, and used Eddie’s iconic guitar Frankenstrat for the solos on ‘Mammoth’ and ‘Feel.’
As it seems, fans will have a chance to hear Eddie’s guitars again in Mammoth WVH’s forthcoming second album. As Wolfgang recently said, he plans to use his father’s guitars to do a solo with each, including the Frankenstrat and the Shark. Besides, he admitted that his work-in-progress signature guitar, the EVH semi-hollow SA-126, surprised him with its versatility.
Speaking in a new interview, Wolfgang said the following:
“The only thing I have left to do is track the guitar solos, so what I want to do is go through some of Pop’s notable guitars and do a solo with each of them. Guitars like the Frankenstein or the Shark, stuff like that.”
He continued:
“The SA-126 is on pretty much the entirety of the album. We were almost surprised as we kept going through. It was like, ‘Wow, okay, this works for this, too,’ and ‘Oh my god, this works really well again over here!’ From the cleans to the really heavy stuff, it sounded crazy!”
So, Wolfgang’s brand new EVH semi-hollow signature guitar is named the SA-126 as a tribute to his father’s birthday on January 26. Apparently, the rocker is determined to bring Eddie Van Halen’s sound to his own band, as fans will both hear Eddie’s iconic guitars and the new EVH SA-126 on the upcoming Mammoth WVH album.
