Mick Jones recently opened up about his emotional reunion with former Foreigner bandmate Lou Gramm and discussed the band’s future plans. He shared his thoughts in an interview with Billboard.

The Foreigner guitarist reflected on reconnecting with Gramm and revealed exciting possibilities for unreleased material from their archives.

“Lou and I recorded a lot of songs that didn’t make it onto any of our albums…like ‘Fool If You Love Him,'” Jones said. “It was great to see Lou again and spend some time with him reminiscing and sharing a few laughs.”

Jones also expressed enthusiasm about potential collaborations involving the band’s new singer Luis Maldonado.

“What is exciting is that Lou and Luis [Maldonado, new Foreigner singer] have developed a great relationship and they may be working together on some other hidden gems that have been lying on a shelf,” he continued.

The comments come as Foreigner celebrates their 50th anniversary, marking a significant milestone for the legendary rock band.

This reunion marks a significant moment in rock history. It highlights the deep creative partnership between Jones and Gramm that shaped arena rock for decades.

Wikipedia reported that Jones first met Gramm in 1976 when he invited him to audition after receiving a demo from Gramm’s band Black Sheep. This meeting would prove pivotal in creating one of rock’s most successful partnerships. The duo co-wrote most of Foreigner’s biggest hits. Their songwriting prowess eventually earned them induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013.

The relationship between Jones and Gramm hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Wikipedia noted that Gramm rejoined Foreigner in May 1992 after working out his differences with Jones during the Los Angeles riots. This highlights the complex dynamics that have characterized their professional relationship over the years.

Meanwhile, the current Foreigner lineup continues to tour with vocalist Kelly Hansen leading the charge. AD HOC NEWS revealed that the 2026 shows feature the modern Foreigner lineup anchored by Mick Jones’ vision and a seasoned group of touring musicians led by vocalist Kelly Hansen. Hansen delivers faithful performances of classics like “Juke Box Hero.”

Despite the current success, some fans remain divided about the band’s direction without Gramm as the primary vocalist. AD HOC NEWS indicated there’s ongoing purist skepticism over Gramm’s absence from the current touring lineup. However, Jones’ vision continues to drive the band forward into their 50th anniversary year.
