Accept guitarist Wolf Hoffmann has addressed whether he reached out to the band’s former members, including ex-singer Udo Dirkschneider, ahead of the release of Accept’s 50th-anniversary album, “Teutonic Titans 1976–2026,” in comments shared by The Metal Voice. The discussion centered on whether an invitation was extended to past Accept members to take part in the milestone project.
“Yeah, there was actually I invited everybody of the old members unfortunately, nobody participated, but that was the intention,” Wolf Hoffmann said. “There are thank you notes and I thanked all the Ex members cause they all contributed to what this is.”
The album itself tells a story of its own, one built around collaboration rather than reunion.
“Teutonic Titans 1976–2026” is a 19-track collection revisiting Accept’s most iconic songs, each reworked with an all-star cast of guest musicians. The tracklist includes new versions of classics such as “Balls to the Wall,” “Fast as a Shark,” and “Restless and Wild,” each featuring a different lineup of collaborators drawn from across the metal world.
The guest roster is extensive, featuring names like Rob Halford, Kirk Hammett, Phil Anselmo, Billy Corgan, K.K. Downing, Tobias Forge, Hansi Kürsch, and Billy Sheehan, among many others. “Fast as a Shark,” for instance, brings together Anselmo on vocals, Sheehan on bass, Hammett on guitar, and Mikkey Dee on drums. This lineup underscores the scale of the tribute Accept has assembled for its anniversary.
Accept’s current lineup includes Hoffmann, bassist Martin Motnik, guitarist Philip Shouse, and drummer Christopher Williams. They play alongside the various guest musicians throughout the record, blending the band’s present-day core with a wide network of collaborators.
Udo Dirkschneider, Accept’s original frontman, has remained separate from the band for decades. He continues to front his own project, U.D.O. His absence from “Teutonic Titans 1976–2026” follows that long-standing separation. Still, Hoffmann’s comments make clear the door was left open for him and other former members to take part.
