Why Dave Grohl Was Kicked Out Of The Studio By The Producer Mark Ronson

DJ and producer, Mark Ronson, was interviewed by Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 as a promotion of his new docuseries. He shared some details about the recording process of a Queens of the Stone Age album and recalled the reason why he asked Dave Grohl to leave the session.

Ronson recently announced his recent project which is a docuseries named ‘Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson’ on his Twitter account. The well-known producer’s new docuseries consists of exclusive interviews with legends of the music industry such as Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Ad-Rock, and Mike D.

Mark Ronson shared an interesting story including Dave Grohl and Josh Homme, who are the special guest stars of his series, during his interview. In one of the recording sessions of Queens of the Stone Age’s seventh studio album entitled ‘Villian,’ Dave Grohl came to the studio to see them but he was interrupting the recording session by distracting the band members.

Therefore, as the producer of the album, Mark Ronson kicked Dave Grohl out of the studio saying that ‘Dave Grohl, rock legend, get out of here!’ even though he was a huge fan of Nirvana and Foo Fighters. He emphasized that he had to ask Grohl to leave the studio for the sake of recording a successful album and he also stated that he didn’t regret his decision.

Ronson stated in his interview that:

“It was the first time we were doing vocals and I was like, ‘Dave Grohl, rock legend, get the f’ck out of here!’ Because it was like the first day we were doing vocals and Josh Homme was really in a rhythm and it hit something. I’m such a fan of Foo Fighters, Nirvana. It was not pleasant to have to ask Dave Grohl nicely to leave the session.”

It can be stated that Mark Ronson shared most of his crazy and unforgettable memories about rock legends in his docuseries named ‘Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson’ which premiered on July 30, 2021, exclusively on Apple TV+.
