Courtney Love, known for her dynamic and often controversial presence in the music world, has a history of engaging in high-profile feuds and outspoken opinions that have attracted public attention. Her unfiltered approach often stirs debates and discussions within the industry, including her clash with the Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen.
The issue between the two goes back years when Love started an attack on Twitter against Jess from the Veronicas and Momsen. The conflict started when Courtney asked Jess to call her, but when Jess didn’t respond, Love posted a series of comments, saying:
“Why does Taylor Whatsit deeply disturb me, and why is the Blonde one from the verons or whatever they are called wearing my actual clothes?”
Love’s Direct Attacks On Momsen And The Veronicas

She directly tweeted her targets as well. To Momsen, Love wrote:
“I don’t watch TV or read teen mags and gossip rags, so I wouldn’t know. Do not still ‘like my music,’ please.”
To the Veronicas, the singer mentioned feeling like they copied her style, writing:
“I asked you or your sister to just stop wearing the clothes she stole.”
Momsen Clarifies Her Musical Influences And Image

Momsen is actually frequently likened to the former Hole vocalist. They are both prominent blonde figures in rock and share a similar style and presence. However, in a 2011 interview with the Dallas Observer, Taylor stated that Love is not a musical influence for her, explaining:
“It’s not that I don’t like the comparison. I don’t think it’s a very accurate one. I think the comparison is based on the fact that there aren’t many blondes or female-fronted rock bands.”
She continued, talking about the musical similarity between Hole and her own band:
“Musically, the Pretty Reckless and Hole are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I don’t respond to that comparison because it’s based on our image. And I wasn’t influenced by any Hole records. But Courtney Love is cool, so I don’t take it as an insult.”
Momsen’s Preference For Kurt Cobain Over Courtney

In an Entertainment Weekly interview, Momsen also expressed a preference to emulate Kurt Cobain of Nirvana rather than Love’s band Hole when asked about being compared to Courtney. During an interview with MTV News at the Bamboozle festival, the rocker was questioned about this comment.
She explained that her words were taken out of context and clarified that while she respects Love, she isn’t trying to be her. Momsen emphasized her admiration for several other notable names like John Lennon, Liam Gallagher, and Robert Plant, noting that she looks up to these idols.
