Ville Valo Explains Why He’s The Jack Nicholson Of Rock

In a 2004 conversation with Metal Hammer, Ville Valo said he was the Jack Nicholson of rock.

When the interviewer said he looked relaxed while chatting like he was performing on stage, the singer explained:

“I’m a good actor. I’m the Jack Nicholson of rock ‘n’ roll! I can do the one expression and people still believe it. It’s exciting though, when you’re nervous, getting butterflies in the stomach is great.”

Will He Perform Again With HIM?

Valo’s band HIM disbanded in 2017 and the rocker talked about a possible reunion in an interview with Metal Hammer in January of this year:

“I don’t find it an appetizing idea at the moment. We haven’t really been in touch, which tells you a lot. If the phone starts ringing at some point, then we’ll see. I love the guys, and I hope that they still care about me, too. So maybe one day, but it would have to be for good reason.”

After HIM stopped making music, Ville started his own solo career. He put out his first album, ‘Neon Noir,’ last year. He talked about this new chapter and said:

“But the countdown to the end of my life has started; I don’t have time to reinvent the wheel, so I have to put all my effort into whatever is happening next. It’s lovely to have a family and lovely to have that co-dependency in a band, but with this, the cool thing was that I didn’t have to call anybody and ask for permission. I’d like to keep it like that for the time being.”

In February, Valo disclosed that he had plans to work on a follow-up album to ‘Neon Noir.’ The singer is currently on a solo tour in Europe. His tour will end on May 10 with a final show in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
