UFO drummer Andy Parker recently offered his perspective on the strained relationship between guitar legends Michael and Rudolf Schenker. He shared his observations in an interview on the Talk Louder Podcast.

Parker’s comments addressed the ongoing tension between the two brothers. Michael Schenker is known for UFO and MSG fame, while Rudolf Schenker is the founding member of the Scorpions.

“He [Michael] never has a good thing to say about his brother. And the Scorpions, a hugely successful band,” Parker said. “I’ve seen so much kind of like, vitriol been written that Michael said about his brother.”

The drummer suggested that financial assistance may be at the root of the conflict.

“But as I understand it, his brother’s bailed him out more than once, on occasion,” he continued. “To the fact now, I think that he had to end up giving him something like, some part of his royalties, or something to help. There doesn’t seem to be much love lost between them. But there you go.”

Parker’s observations reflect a long-standing feud that has played out publicly for years. Both brothers have offered contrasting perspectives on their relationship and professional history.

The tension between the Schenker brothers has deep historical roots that extend beyond simple sibling rivalry. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Michael has publicly labeled Rudolf an “abusive bully” and accused him of misusing his name for the Scorpions’ benefit. These accusations paint a picture of a relationship marked by power struggles and professional exploitation.

Despite the harsh criticism from his younger brother, Rudolf has maintained a more diplomatic stance. In a 2022 interview covered by Guitar World, Rudolf expressed hope for reconciliation. He said “I love my brother… If that is what makes him happy, then okay. I wish him all the best,” though he acknowledged their relationship has been “less than stellar.”

“Rudolf ripped me off… His behaviour has shown to be totally disrespectful and ungrateful,” Michael stated in previous interviews. Myth of Rock documented these statements.

Michael’s grievances extend to creative disputes and financial arrangements that have soured over decades. Ultimate Metal noted that Michael claims Rudolf exploited his generosity over the years. He alleges Rudolf took songwriting credits unfairly and distorted the narrative around key Scorpions albums like *Lovedrive* to make Rudolf appear more central while downplaying Michael’s contributions.

The financial aspect that Parker alluded to appears to be just one layer of a complex family and professional dispute. This dispute has fractured one of rock’s most prominent musical families. It highlights how business and blood don’t always mix successfully in the music industry.
