Joey Cassata has announced he will be joining Twisted Sister as their new drummer for upcoming live performances featuring Sebastian Bach on vocals. This was revealed in a statement shared on Instagram.
The drummer previously played on Ace Frehley’s final original solo album ‘10,000 Volts.’ He expressed his excitement about joining the legendary heavy metal band for their fall 2026 shows.
“Super excited (and beyond honored) to be drumming for this LEGENDARY band!! I’ve been an SMF since I was 8 years old… and now this?! Absolutely surreal,” Cassata said.
The announcement comes as part of Twisted Sister’s decision to move forward with live performances after bringing Sebastian Bach on board as their new frontman.
“You can’t stop rock and roll!! Huge breaking news… Twisted Sister to go forward with LIVE shows featuring Sebastian Bach as singer! Let’s gooooo!” Cassata continued.
Twisted Sister had previously announced that members Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda were thrilled to have Sebastian Bach front the band for select dates. They noted that these appearances would not conflict with Bach’s solo touring schedule.
Cassata brings extensive experience to his new role with Twisted Sister. He has built a diverse career spanning rock, Broadway, and television. Michael Cavacini reported that Cassata has served as backup drummer for Trans-Siberian Orchestra since 2004, demonstrating his ability to handle large-scale rock productions.
The drummer’s passion for rock music began early in his childhood. Misplaced Straws noted that Cassata’s love for rock started at age five after seeing KISS at Madison Square Garden in 1979. This later led to his band ZO2 opening for KISS on tours like Rock The Nation in 2004.
Beyond his rock credentials, Cassata has also made his mark on Broadway. My Drum Lessons revealed that he drummed for the Tony Award-winning Broadway show “Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812” starting from its off-Broadway run in 2013.
His versatility extends to television as well, where he gained recognition through his band ZO2’s involvement in various entertainment projects. Modern Drummer highlighted that Cassata recently released an autobiography titled “Start With a Dream: A Drummer’s Journey from Rock & Roll to TV to Broadway.” The book reached number one on the Amazon bestseller list.
The addition of Cassata to Twisted Sister’s lineup represents a significant moment for both the drummer and the band as they prepare to continue their legacy with a new configuration featuring Sebastian Bach’s powerful vocals and Cassata’s proven drumming expertise.
