The band said the album will be available for pre-order as signed vinyl and CDs. The title track premiered on the Trivium website.

“Crown In The Grave is our 11th record, and when you get this far into a career, it’s easy to rest on what you’ve already done – or to reinvent yourself just for the sake of it,” bassist Paolo Gregoletto said. “With this record, we wanted to find the space between those two things: take everything we’ve learned and everything that makes Trivium what it is, but present it in ways we hadn’t before.”

Gregoletto explained the album’s creative direction. “We also wanted the record to exist within its own world. That began with the title track, inspired by [Japanese director] Akira Kurosawa’s Throne Of Blood, and led us deeper into Japanese horror and cinema from the 50s, 60s and 70s. That influence grew into this darker, ghostly atmosphere that became a set of guardrails for the music, lyrics, artwork and overall identity of the record.”

The announcement came as the band released their new album’s title track.

Crown In The Grave follows the band’s 2021 album In The Court Of The Dragon and their EP Struck Dead. The record marks the first album with drummer Alex ‘Rudi’ Rudinger, who joined the band in October 2025. Trivium created the album with producer Josh Wilbur in their own studio to give themselves space to develop the record.

The Florida metal band teased new music at Download festival in the summer before announcing a North American tour starting November 5 in St. Petersburg, Florida, and running through December 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The tour features support from In Flames, Orbit Culture, Fit For An Autopsy and Frozen Soul. The title track is the second single from the album, following “Dead Inside Of Me.”
