Deen Castronovo recently shared a post on X to celebrate everyone’s New Year, in which he also reflected on the costs of being a part of Journey.
The drummer wrote the following in his message, along with a photo of himself taken on the tour:
“It’s getting closer each day! The bittersweet life on the road! Touring with my brothers in Journey is my ‘happy place,’ but for anyone that does this for a living knows, it comes with a price. I’ve missed first words, first steps, first days of school, graduations, birthdays, the list goes for miles.”
Deen’s Fan Dedication

Crediting the fans, his post continued:
“The beautiful, meaningful things in life are sacrificed for a better life for my family. You, the fans, make the sting of being away bearable! I love you people to Mars and back (further than the moon, it’s science)! Happy New Year everyone!”
A Year Of Musical Endeavors

This year has been busy for Castronovo, both for his efforts in Journey and Revolution Saints. He hit the road in Freedom Tour 2023 of Journey and released a new album with Revolution Saints named ‘Eagle Flight.’ When asked to compare his experiences between being a supporting member in Journey and being the lead singer for Revolution Saints in a March interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, the musician said:
“It’s scary. I’m a drummer that happens to sing, and that’s the way I see it. Drums are my day job. I know I’m comfortable there. I’m not comfortable being a lead singer yet. You got guys who have been doing it for years and years and years, and that’s their instrument. You know what I mean?”
He added, reflecting on his experience of taking the vocals in Journey:
“I was kind of thrust into the whole vocal thing back in 2006 when [former Journey singer] Steve Augeri was having some vocal issues. I was always a background singer, so to sing lead is definitely different. It’s not something that I’m comfortable with yet, but I’m willing to give it a shot, to try and be a frontman.”
Deen is set to drop his latest album with Revolution Saints, ‘Against The Winds,’ on February 9, 2024. He will also be touring with Journey for a massive 2024 summer tour.
