L.A. Guns founder Tracii Guns shared his thoughts on writing an autobiography during an interview with Dr. Music.
“No,” Guns responded when asked about writing an autobiography. “I was with Rich Bienstock last night. He’s the guy that writes all the books. I was at his book signing — him and Tom Beaujour have a new Lollapalooza book out [‘Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story Of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival’]. And Rich is a really dear friend of mine. And he drops the hint once a year, ‘Hey, are we doing this?'”
“I did the math. To make it worth it, I would want a lot of money. To make a lot of money, I’ve gotta tell all the true stories. I don’t wanna do that,” he explained.
“I love everybody I played with, regardless of how the relationships ended up,” Guns continued. “A couple guys I hate, but mostly everybody… I love Nikki, I love Axl — I love everybody. I would hate to tell stories that are 40 years old, 30 years old, 20 years old of crazy sh*t I saw or was involved in. It might make somebody sad or angry or something like that.”
The guitarist’s stance demonstrates his commitment to preserving positive relationships within the rock community, especially with his former bandmates.
Reports from Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that Guns takes pride in his early contributions to Guns N’ Roses, despite not participating in their landmark album ‘Appetite for Destruction.’
His musical career spans beyond these well-known collaborations. Documentation from various sources shows that after leaving Guns N’ Roses, he dedicated himself to L.A. Guns. He later established other significant projects, including Brides of Destruction and Contraband.
Rock memoirs have gained significant popularity in recent years. These autobiographies often expose controversial stories and reignite old conflicts within the music industry.
His decision carries particular weight given his extensive involvement in the Los Angeles rock scene. His connections to numerous influential bands and musicians over four decades make this stance especially noteworthy.
