Brittany Furlan recently shared a short clip from one of her recent standup shows on Instagram, causing the comedian to receive backlash due to her obscene language.
A user referred to her Vine career and wrote:
“You should just go back to vines.”
Another user expressed criticism for Furlan’s use of curse words, saying:
“So hateful. Lower the cussing. It doesn’t help your intelligence level whatsoever. You sound smarter when you talk to people normally, just speaking from everyone else’s mouth to yours.”
The following comment again drew attention to her language, stating:
“Stop f*cking cussing too much.”
One of the many other backlashes explained:
“I mean. It’s funny, but it’s too much.”
There were also some comments that expressed their support for the comedian. One user wrote:
“Y’all can unfollow if you don’t like it. Gawd.”
After leaving the Vine app, Brittany focused on her career as a standup comedian and actress. In an interview with People last month, she addressed the attacks she might receive from the audience and also the function of comedy in her life, saying:
“I literally just joke about everything in my life. Some people will attack me for it and make fun of me, but I use comedy to cope with whatever I’m dealing with. It just fulfills me in so many ways, and it’s so nice to just get to do it. I’m just loving it, and I’m just enjoying my life with it so much. There’s no better feeling to me than making people laugh.”
Earlier this year, Furlan had again faced backlash after sharing a Pamela Anderson joke by imitating the actress on TikTok. Following the criticisms, she spoke to Page Six and explained that comedy was her coping mechanism to deal with ‘uncomfy situations.’
