Tommy Lee’s Favorite Scene From Mötley Crüe’s Movie ‘The Dirt’

Mötley Crüe is famous for being accepted among the most scandalous and wildest bands in the history of rock. The band reached its peak time during the 1980s when it was the height of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The band members have countless crazy stories as they have been always known for their hedonistic lifestyles.

They are an important pioneer of heavy metal but besides their music, they have also embraced a hardcore metal lifestyle. The band members battled with alcohol and drug abuse for long years, which caused them many troubles from time to time. After accumulating countless crazy stories, Mötley Crüe members decided to write a collaborative autobiography to make them publicly heard.

Mötley Crüe Published Their Autobiographical Work ‘The Dirt’

Back in 2001, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, and the writer Neil Strauss came together and co-authored the band’s autobiography titled ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.’ The book was first published on May 22, 2001, and the first edition spent four weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list.

The autobiographical work presents Mötley Crüe as ‘the world’s most notorious rock band’ and chronicles the formation process of the band, their rise to fame, and their high and low moments throughout their long-term career. Each of the four original band members tells their own story in their own voice in the book. Later on, the book was adapted into a movie by Netflix and released on March 22, 2019.

The autobiography generally received some mixed reviews. Some critics labeled it as a satisfactory biopic while some others criticized it for avoiding telling the more troubling sides of the band’s history. Some thought that it was too shallow and would prefer it to be more detailed. However, some fans still accept it as one of the greatest rock autobiographies.

What Is Tommy Lee’s Favorite Scene From Movie ‘The Dirt’?

During the making process of the film adaptation, Tommy Lee joined an interview with Rolling Stone and reflected his thoughts on it. Lee was asked about what would be his favorite scene from the film and he named Nikki Sixx’s famous overdose experience back in 1987. Lee responded to the question by laughing and stated that seeing this scene in the movie would be very fun to watch.

The question asked to Tommy Lee:

“Mötley Crüe’s autobiography ‘The Dirt’ is being made into a movie. What will be your favorite scene?”

And here is how he replied:

Watching Nikki OD and die for a few minutes.”

At the time, Sixx was a heavy drug user, and once he overdosed on heroin. Nikki Sixx reflected on this incident also in the autobiography and said that he was clinically dead for approximately two minutes. Then, he was eventually brought back owing to the big efforts of the paramedics and immediately transported to the hospital. They injected him with adrenaline and restarted his heart. Fortunately, the incident didn’t have a traumatic effect on Tommy Lee as it would be fun for him to watch it also on the screen.
