Tom Morello recently took to X to announce his initial comment after Rage Against the Machine wrapped up touring life.
The guitarist shared a video of his speech from RATM’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction with the class of 2023 and wrote:
“History, like music, is not something that ‘happens.’ It’s something you make:”
Fan Reactions To The Band’s Decision

Under the comment section of his post, some fans of the band expressed their sadness over the end of their touring life, while some wanted to learn the reasons for their decision. One fan wrote:
“My brothers, my brothers. You saved me in so many ways. I had a blast at all your shows! My heart hurts! Please don’t do it! The new generation of music fans needs you more than you know! I need you. I’m really melancholy. PS- Greatest speech I’ve ever heard. You guys deserve it all. I love you, always.”
The official account of Rock and Roll Garage said, questioning why the band stopped performing live:
“Any feud with Zack again that will prevent the band to perfom live again? Is that it? If so, please get Prophets of Rage back together again!”
Another comment also talked about their disappointment over the band’s recent decision:
“Always want to see it live. At least we’ll always have the music, but there’s still a huge ‘what could have been’ as far as new music and touring. Blessed to have at least seen Audioslave live.”
Official Announcement Of No More Tours Or Live Performances

Recently on Instagram, Brad Wilk said that Rage Against the Machine would stop touring and doing live shows for the third time. He mentioned this while talking about some canceled dates from the band’s reunion tour. The drummer noted in his post:
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new dates for all the canceled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom, and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
Morello was the only RATM member who attended the band’s Hall of Fame induction. The musician explained that his bandmates chose not to attend the ceremony because they had different views on celebrating the induction. He said he attended to honor the band’s music and mission and to appreciate the band’s dedicated fans.
