Tom Morello Says Zack De La Rocha Is The Greatest Frontman Of All Time

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello recently spoke to Revolver and talked about vocalists and songwriters of metal music. He praised his bandmate from Audioslave, Chris Cornell, however, he stated that RATM frontman Zack de la Rocha is the best frontman of all time.

Tom Morello was the guitarist of Audioslave for six years between 2001 and 2007. They briefly reunited in 2017 and were hoping for a proper reunion in the future until Chris Cornell passed away that year. After the saddening death of the Audioslave’s frontman, Tom Morello continued Rage Against the Machine with his former bandmate Zack de la Rocha.

The guitarist admitted that he is not only a friend but also a fan of Cornell. He continued by saying that Cornell was very unique because he combined metal with poetry which was very important for Morello. Morello is grateful to have worked with such a musician in his life and thinks that everyone owes Cornell for saving metal music.

Despite all the compliments he gave to the late singer, for Morello, the best frontman of all times is his Rage Against the Machine companion Zack de la Rocha. For the guitarist, Rocha has a spiritual commitment to the stage and he feels very lucky to be with him in a band.

Here are his opinions on Zack de la Rocha:

“In my opinion, he’s the greatest frontman of all time. He’s the punk-rock James Brown. There’s no one in the history of Western music that has the sort of the totality of spiritual commitment on stage and in the studio is that guy. And it’s matched with a brilliant intellect, and he’s a tremendous musician as well, and it’s really an unbelievable combination just, feel fortunate to be in a band with him.”
