Tom DeLonge Expresses Sadness Over Postponing Blink-182 Reunion

After the updates on Travis Barker’s injury and surgery were announced, Blink-182 vocalist Tom DeLonge announced that the upcoming South America tour is postponed. DeLonge expressed his feeling over this development with a video he shared on his Instagram account.

Travis Barker damaged his finger twice during the rehearsals of their reunion tour in February and informed his fans that he needed surgery for it. While the fate of the upcoming shows was unknown then, it was revealed that Blink-182 had to postpone the tour date to 2024.

In a video he shared, Tom DeLonge stated they couldn’t see this kind of accident coming and were sorry to delay the concerts South American fans were ready to attend. He indicated they had been prepared to perform for their fans and were devastated by the recent development.

He explained the news and his feelings as follows:

“I’m so sorry to everyone in South America that we couldn’t be down there. This is something that we’ve been aiming to do for so long, and we worked so hard, and we just kind of had one of those freak accidents that nobody saw coming.

Travis needs to go in and have surgery on his finger, and we have to get that well; we have to get that strong before we can do anything else.

This is just so sad. These are the biggest shows we’ve ever played; these are some of the most important places in the world of our band. This is like the pinnacle of our career, coming down and playing for you guys, so I really want you all to know that we are devastated.”

In addition to his explanation, he reassured the fans that the band loved their fans and would eventually continue their schedule in South America after Travis Barker’s recovery. He emphasized that it was an upsetting and unforeseen accident for the band too.

He added to his previous claims by stating:

“I know it seems like you’ve waited so long – which you have. And we’ve waited too. This is just devastating on so many levels. But we’re gonna get Travis better, we’re gonna come down – the three of us, together – and we’re gonna rock, and we’re gonna have an incredible time with you guys.

But I really want you to know, from my heart to yours, how important you guys are to us, and this is not something that we could have even have saw coming. This is just devastating. But we love you. Blink-182 loves you. We will see you soon.”

Blink-182 will not be able to perform together for another year due to Travis Barker’s injury, which means South American fans will have to wait until 2024 to see the band perform and continue their tour over there. Hopefully, the drummer will recover quickly and return to the stage.
