The Story Of Liam Gallagher’s Everlasting Hate Against Radiohead

Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher is notoriously good at starting verbal fights with other bands with his controversial statements during interviews. The musician doesn’t only have a famous feud with his own brother, Noel Gallagher, but he also doesn’t refrain from coming for other artists including Coldplay.

English rock band Radiohead is not an exception to Gallagher’s debatable opinions that were expressed publicly. In fact, the band has been constantly criticized by the Oasis icon in terms of their music, live performances, and fanbase. While you may think it was a one-time occurrence, you will be surprised to see the timeline.

The History Of Liam Gallagher’s Statements About Radiohead

Liam Gallagher’s controversial statements about Radiohead started around 2008, during an interview with London Times. According to the musician, he doesn’t hate the band, he just finds their fans boring and ugly. Moreover, he stated that Radiohead’s fans don’t look like they are having a good time during shows.

According to MusicRadar, Gallagher said:

“I’ve mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay. I don’t hate them. I don’t wish they had accidents. I think their fans are boring and ugly and they don’t look like they’re having a good time.”

If you think Gallagher would stop after slamming their fans and concerts, you thought wrong. During a 2011 interview with Quietus, the Oasis icon shared his unpleasant opinion on Radiohead’s eighth studio album ‘The King of Limbs’ which was released on February 18, 2011.

While many respectable publications named the record as one of the best albums of the year, Gallagher didn’t agree as you may expect. His statements were far from kind criticism as the musician read Radiohead’s record to filth. Furthermore, he told them to ‘go f*ck themselves’ when it comes to their lyrics.

Gallagher’s statement about the album follows:

“I heard that fucking Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’ I like to think that what we do, we do fucking well. Them writing a song about a fucking tree? Give me a fucking break! A thousand-year-old tree? Go f*ck yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?”

In 2018, Liam Gallagher started a Twitter rant after he heard Radiohead at a house party. His numerous posts aimed to mock the band as he called them ‘Radio play‘ and mentioned their songs with different names. Since Gallagher previously admitted that he’s a drunk tweeter, fans instantly assumed that he was under the influence while sharing those tweets.

Gallagher’s post reads:

“So I’m in this crazy house every fucker is banging on about the band radio play, help.”

Another tweet follows:

How the fuck did these teds get big?”

It can be said that Liam Gallagher hates Radiohead, even though he claims he doesn’t. What’s interesting is that the musician never openly says what bothers him so much about the band. Instead, he looks down on the band’s music, fans, and those who like their music for a minute. Regardless of his reason, Gallagher doesn’t seem to stop coming from Radiohead any time soon.
