During a recent appearance on Lipps Service with Scott Lipps, The Offspring’s Noodles shared his dream supergroup.
“I’m going to throw out my buddy, Matt Freeman,” the guitarist said. “Okay, I like that,” his bandmate Dexter Holland added. “Great bass player, and I think he’s… It’s more than just chops. He’s also got groove and got feeling,” Noodles continued.
When the guitarist said, “Second guitar…,” Holland said, “Keith Richards, right?” Noodles replied, “I would always want to say Keith Richards.” Dexter shared, “Oh, yeah. I don’t care if he doesn’t fit in.”
“How about Warren Fitzgerald for second guitar?” Noodles asked his bandmate. “Warren’s great,” Holland explained. “From the Vandals,” Noodles also added. “Just phenomenal guitar player and just makes anything fun,” the rocker said of Fitzgerald.
“Oh, go, Joey Castillo. Phenomenal. Queens, The Bronx. He did the Circle Jerks last couple of years,” Noodles said when talking about the drummer he wanted to see in his dream supergroup.
“Oh, gosh. I’m gonna go Jello Biafra,” the musician said of his choice for the lead vocalist. “He definitely got his own, unique voice. I don’t know that he’s going to be hitting the high notes.”
The Offspring’s latest album, ‘Supercharged’ recently arrived on October 11, 2024. “Each song is viewed separately. And then once you have a bunch of songs, then you kind of see where the record is going And then you just try to build on that,” Noodles previously told Chaoszine about the record.
He added, “I don’t think we’ve ever changed that much. We’ve never done a concept record. We never went, ‘All right, we’re done with this punk rock pop stuff. We wanna be metal now.'”
Bob Rock produced the album and it features new members Todd Morse, Jonah Nimoy, and Brandon Pertzborn. They recorded the album in Maui, Vancouver, and the band’s studio in Huntington Beach. Pertzborn and session drummer Josh Freese played the drums. Holland and Morse played the bass.
