The Offspring’s Noodles Explains His Feelings On 30th Anniversary Of ‘Smash’ Album

The Offspring is celebrating 30 years of their studio album, ‘Smash,’ which features hits such as ‘Come Out And Play’ and ‘Self Esteem.’

The band’s guitarist Noodles shared his thoughts on the album and its 30th anniversary during a new interview with Radioacktiva. During the conversation, Noodles explained what the album and certain songs mean to him:

“It’s hard for me to place the songs as being part of that time. The songs, to me, are timeless. The songs are every bit as [relevant] today as they were 30 years ago. But I feel that way about a lot of the music I’ve loved throughout my life, and especially all the music we’ve made.”

He then shared a few songs from the album that are ‘timeless’:

“I can think back to when I first heard ‘Come Out And Play’ on the radio and just thinking, ‘Whoa, what is this? This is mind-blowing. This doesn’t happen to bands like us.’ That was a very exciting thing. And once we realized, ‘Hey, man, we’ve gotta pick up this ball and run with it. Let’s see. Maybe we can get a few years off playing music for a living.’ But I don’t think any of us thought 30 years later we would still be making music.”

The Offspring will commemorate the 30th anniversary of their third studio album with a unique concert on June 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The show will feature a complete performance of the ‘Smash’ album, along with other popular hits.

A New Offspring Album Is ‘Almost Complete’

Ever since the band’s 2021 release ‘Let The Bad Times Roll,’ The Offspring has been focusing on new music, which we have more details about today. During an earlier conversation with Rock Sound, Noodles shared some information about their upcoming album.

“We’ve been working on a bunch of new stuff. The record’s almost done. We’re hoping to be done in the next couple of months and have it released at the end of the year.”

Although the band has high hopes that it will be released at the end of this year, the rockers did not reveal a certain date or a name for the album. We might be getting more news in the next few weeks.
