The Most-Listened Rock And Metal Bands In 2023 According To Spotify Wrapped

Spotify Wrapped has just released its 2023 data, and it’s clear that rock and metal fans have had their favorites this year. While names like Queen and Metallica have yet to share their numbers after topping the streaming lists with billions last year, other bands have taken to social media to announce their own stats. Here’s a look at six rock and metal bands that made waves on Spotify this year.

6. Pantera

Pantera’s X post revealed they received 329.4 million streams from 20.7 million listeners in 2023. This year was significant for them, marking their first major tour in over two decades, with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante joining as touring members to fill in for Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. So, they honored the late members by writing, ‘Dime & Vinnie are always shining.’

5. Mötley Crüe

Earlier this year, Mötley Crüe’s John 5 shared news of their first new album since 2008. While the album is still in the works, the band celebrated ‘a huge 2023’ on Instagram. They hit 442.3 million streams from 31.9 million listeners on Spotify throughout the last few months.

4. Scorpions

Scorpions released their latest album, ‘Rock Believer,’ in 2022 and ended up with 454.5 million streams on Spotify. This year saw an increase in the numbers as the band reported 500.3 million views from 51.6 million listeners for 2023 with an X post that thanked ‘all the Rock Believers for another rocking year.’

3. The Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins also saw a rise in streaming numbers in 2023, with 503 million streams from 38 million listeners. The band revealed having 388.9 million views on the platform last year shortly after releasing the first part of their latest album ‘Atum: A Rock Opera In Three Acts.’ Since January, they received 12 million new listeners.

2. Nickelback

Nickelback released their newest record, ‘Get Rollin’,’ in November 2022 and saw their efforts pay off with 882.3 million streams and 18 million new listeners by the end of 2023. Their overall listener count rose to 52.6 million, as they confirmed on social media by writing they loved them all, ‘even if we didn’t make your Top 5.’

1. Linkin Park

According to the results so far, Linkin Park stood out with the highest streaming numbers in the rock/metal category for 2023. They revealed 3 billion streams from 105.6 million listeners. Even without a new studio album recently, their reissue of ‘Meteora’ possibly contributed to these numbers, with the lead single ‘Lost’ alone pulling in over 151 million streams.
