Known for his role in Aerosmith, Steven Tyler’s contributions to rock music history are enormous. But before his music career, the rocker had been through some bullying, though eventually, it served as a catalyst and shaped his rock music career.
Appearing on Billboard ten years ago to talk about drugs and bullying, Tyler talked about the bullying he has been through. The rocker had been called many names, which he is now honored by. He recalled:
“I was called terrible names when I was a kid. Pinhead, and n*gger-lips, for a white boy who grew up in the Bronx, that’s terrible. Now I’m honored by that. (I was) beaten up, spit at, (called) queer. So we got a band together.”
Tyler’s Appearance in TV Caused Jealousy

In addition to the bullying during his early years, the rocker was also a matter of jealousy when he first joined the TV competition series American Idol. The singer made his debut appearance as a judge on the show during the premiere of the show’s 10th season. So who was jealous? No one other than his bandmates. In Tyler’s words, his bandmates were ‘jealous like hell’ of him. Still, the show made the band successful more than he could imagine with 270 percent.
Despite all the jealousy and the bullying, the rocker used it for his own fame and now, he is ultimately one of the world-renowned rockers.
