Ted Nugent Says He Never Ever Said He’d Retire

Ted Nugent made it clear once again — he has no plans to retire.

In a recent live stream on Facebook, Nugent responded to rumors that he was retiring by saying:

“‘Well, I heard you’re retired.’ Did you hear that? I don’t know where I heard that because I never said that. In fact, when people asked me if I was going to retire, I said no as a negative. Nein. Nein yet. I said, ‘No, I’m not retiring, I’m just going to do scattered gigs.’ I don’t want to spend the night in the hotel because Coco and Sadie would cry when I’m gone.”

Nugent Is Actually Ready For More Shows

Nugent finished the ‘Adios Mofo ’23’ tour last year. It was supposed to be his farewell tour, but it seems this doesn’t mean he’s stopping his music. Nugent already has more shows for this year. He wants to keep performing but not travel as much. He hates staying in hotels and wants to stay close to home:

“Hotels are jail. I hate jail… I will always play music. The music still has fire. I still crave it. I’ve got new songs. I’m gonna go in the studio with these killer musicians that are always at my side. But traveling, I tell you… A hotel room is jail… The travel and the hotels… “

Nugent is still very active in music. He plays his guitar every day and meets up with his band in Texas for jam sessions. They play spontaneous shows around the state, which he calls ‘Ted Nugent speakeasies.’

He recently announced a few shows and called them his ‘Speakezy Rockouts.’ He has a few coming up soon, including ‘Blues, Brews & BBQ’ on May 4, 2024, at Heritage Hall in Ardmore, Oklahoma. This special show will feature Jared James Nichols and Wes Jeans.
