Ted Nugent recently responded to longstanding allegations made by Courtney Love in a statement shared on YouTube. The rock musician denied multiple accusations that have circulated about him over the years.

Nugent directly addressed the allegations and dismissed claims about his personal life and past conduct. The musician stated that he has never met Love and rejected the narrative surrounding their supposed relationship.

“They claimed that I had this thing with Courtney Love. Never met Courtney Love. Don’t want to meet Courtney Love. You can tell I’ve never met Courtney Love. I never needed a rabies shot and I have both of my arms,” Nugent said.

The 77-year-old musician also addressed other accusations that have followed him throughout his career. These include claims about draft dodging and adoption. He characterized these allegations as lies spread by what he called “dirt bags and idiots.”

“[They say], ‘Well, he adopted a 9-year-old to have sex with her.’ What was her name? These people, they lie and lie. [They say], ‘He dodged the draft.’ Didn’t dodge the draft. Never adopted anybody,” Nugent stated.

Nugent’s denial comes amid decades of controversy surrounding his relationships with underage women. Courtney Love publicly accused Nugent of having her perform oral sex on him when she was underage, according to Far Out Magazine. She initially stated she was 12 and a half years old before later revising her claim to age 14. Nugent has consistently denied these allegations.

One of the most well-documented cases involving Nugent and an underage relationship centers on Pele Massa, a Hawaiian girl whom he began dating in 1978 when she was 17 and he was approximately 29 years old. Massa’s parents approved of the relationship. Nugent reportedly became her legal guardian—a move some sources suggest was intended to circumvent statutory rape laws, as noted by Wikipedia. While Nugent denies some details of these accounts, he has acknowledged the relationship with Massa.

Nugent’s controversial history with the subject extends to his music as well. His 1981 song “Jailbait” explicitly references attraction toward a 13-year-old girl, according to Uber Rock. This further cemented his controversial reputation regarding relationships with minors.

Despite the widespread reporting and public debate surrounding these allegations, Nugent has not been legally convicted of any sex offenses. He has frequently dismissed or denied accusations leveled against him. The circumstances involving his relationships with underage girls remain a contentious subject in both media and public discourse.

Nugent concluded his recent remarks by framing the criticism he receives as validation of his character and influence. He stated that his spirit “irritates the demons” of those who oppose him.
