Taking the high road is something that only some musicians in the industry can get behind. Once there is a comment about them on the table, there tends to be the desire to respond in the same tone. However, activist and musician Ted Nugent praised the two artists who had publicly criticized him instead of adding to the fire. Here’s what Nugent had to say about the late David Crosby and Paul McCartney in the recent episode of his Nightly Nuge.

“We’re going to talk about my friend David Crosby,” the rocker said before commenting on Crosby’s previous statements about him. “Now let me make it perfectly clear, David was on record many, many times attacking me and hating me, ‘He can’t play guitar; he’s never had a musical idea in his life; he’s a vicious killer of innocent animals.’”

Still, Nugent went on to compliment Crosby regardless of not vibrating with folky music, exclaiming, “Well, let me praise David Crosby. I’m not a big fan of that kind of folky music, but they had gifts, and David Crosby had a work ethic because you don’t create a Crosby Stills, Nash, and Young musical force like they did.”

He added, “Again, not my favorite, but it enriched millions of people worldwide, so all I know is that we’re all going to die someday, and I would like to just pray for the friends, family, and loved ones of David Crosby. I can make a real smart comment about the numbers of those people, but I’m going to continue to honor the man who at least had a Colt 45 1911; he got caught within New York City, so one positive about David Crosby is that he’s backed a pistol.”

Nugent also recalled his previous comments on Paul McCartney, as he noted, “Even though I’m not a fan of that kind of music, I’m taking the high road, as I did with Paul McCartney when he savagely attacked me and hated me for murdering innocent animals. I don’t know how much protein he donated to the Caritas soup kitchen, but my point is I thank Paul McCartney for his incredible musical enrichment of our lives, and the same with David Crosby. In the wind, he’s still alive. It would take quite a gust, but in the wind, David Crosby is still alive.”

If you were unfamiliar with the elephant in the room between Paul McCartney and Ted Nugent, here’s a snippet of their relationship. The Beatles icon had previously said he could not stand Nugent for killing innocent animals and even describing him as ‘not a real musician.’ Since Nugent’s biggest hobby is hunting and McCartney stands on the opposite side of the spectrum, the two musicians definitely don’t see eye to eye. However, Ted decided to put the comments behind him and take the high road by praising the musician for his talent.
