Ted Nugent plans more concerts after mixed retirement signals.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘Stranglehold,’ the rocker announced a series of concerts starting on April 5th in Texas, with additional shows in Arkansas and Michigan, ending on August 30, as American Songwriter reported.

After his 2023 Adios Mofos tour, Nugent took a break but still wants to perform while staying close to his family. Some fans have called Nugent’s retirement a ‘fake retirement.’ Last year in February, he joined an interview with SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,’ and revealed that he’s still been playing guitar every day, even after retiring.

Ted explained, “Well, my guitars are still breeding. My guitars are having an orgy right now in my man cave cuckoo’s nest. I play my guitar every day. I’ve got a band here in Texas — Jon Kutz on the drums and Johnny Big on bass and vocals, and we jam all the time.”

“We do a bunch of Ted Nugent speakeasies, just some roustabout sh*tkicker rock and roll getdowns at various places around the state of Texas — sometimes spontaneous, sometimes it’s promoted. But I’ll still do gigs; I just won’t go on tour,” he shared.

“‘Well, I heard you’re retired.’ Did you hear that? I don’t know where I heard that because I never said that,” Nugent also said in a live stream in April. “In fact, when people asked me if I was going to retire, I said no as a negative.”

“Nein. Nein yet. I said, ‘No, I’m not retiring, I’m just going to do scattered gigs.’ I don’t want to spend the night in the hotel because Coco and Sadie would cry when I’m gone,” the singer noted, referring to his dogs.

Later in July, his wife Shemane shared an update on his retirement status, writing on Instagram, “My other life as a rock ‘n’ roll wife! Had an amazing time with family and friends at Ted’s concert last night in PA. Officially, he’s retired from touring, but he’ll keep the music alive with charity events and special gigs. So grateful for all the unforgettable moments and the amazing people we’ve met all these years.”

In April, Nugent revealed new shows despite his earlier retirement plans. After his farewell tour, he performed surprise ‘SpeakEazy’ shows, starting on May 4, 2024.
