The Struts singer Luke Spiller revealed in a new chat with Bizarre that Taylor Hawkins made a James Bond theme, but Billie Eilish’s song won.

Spiller says he asked Hawkins to play drums on a song he wrote for the Bond movie ‘No Time To Die’ in late 2019. Sadly, the movie’s producers chose Eilish’s song instead. “I’ve always been obsessed with a lot of the Bond songs. I had a crack at it, but got beaten by,” Luke shared.

The rocker continued, “It’s a fantastic song. I called Taylor and we cut the drums in his home studio.” He added, “Hopefully the people making the next Bond film can listen to my record and appreciate the potential I have to create an incredible Bond song.

Spiller performed at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in September 2022 at Wembley Stadium in London, singing ‘We Will Rock You’ with Queen and Foo Fighters members.

Eilish co-wrote the song with her brother, Finneas. Eilish previously said they used to create songs for Bond movies but never thought they would write a real theme song. “You know what’s funny about it? Like, two years ago, we were like, ‘Wouldn’t it be crazy to make a song for the Bond movies, and, like, wouldn’t that be dope?'” the singer told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2020.

She added, “And so, kind of for two years-ish, we’ve been subconsciously trying to … in our own way. And, like, we’ve written songs that have never come out that are like, ‘Oh, this sounds like Bond, like, this would be dope, like, it would never happen, whatever.’ And then this offer came up and we were like, ‘Ahhh!'”

“It was honestly, like, a great process,” Billie recalled. “We got a piece of the script, like the first scene, and then wrote the song immediately. And we wrote it in three days, and we wrote it in Texas, and we recorded it in a bunk on the bus, in the basement in the dark.”

Spiller is eager, but it seems unlikely he will write the next Bond theme. Dua Lipa is the top choice, with Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Celine Dion, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift also mentioned. ‘Bond 26’ is still in development.
